A good speaker can keep a room of people interested without any slides whatsoever.
A good slide deck, however, gives people memorable moments and information they might miss if they just listened to you.
In fact, there are two main types of decks: the ones that support a speaker and ones meant to tell the entire story in the absence of a speaker (“kiosk mode”). They are very different.
In the case of the former, the first mistake most speakers make is to see slides as their presentation. Unless you want to bore your audience to death, look at your slide deck as an aid to make your presentation easier to take in and more enjoyable for the audience.
For you as a speaker they are the narration thread – a reminder of what you want to cover in your talk, nothing more.
At TCS we’ve created hundreds of slide presentations. They include graphics, charts, sound, speaker’s notes, animation and even video. We can take your notes (or conduct interviews) and make you the star of the show with slides that compliment and impress in a fraction of the time you would take to do it yourself.
